BENGALURU/HYDERABAD: Dispelling misconceptions and fears associated with the efficacy of Covid-19 vaccines, a 102-year-old retired Army officer, Subramanian KN, received the vaccine at Bengaluru while 100-year-old Hyderabad resident Jaidev Chowdhry got himself inoculated on Monday.
Subramanian, who received the vaccine at Columbia Asia, Hebbal, around 5pm, is perhaps the oldest to be vaccinated in Bengaluru. Meanwhile, Chowdhry, a retired entrepreneur, was one of the first to visit Hyderabad’s Medicover Hospital for the vaccine and suffered no side effects. Chowdhry urged everyone above 60 and those aged between 45 and 59 with comorbidities to get inoculated as it is tougher for people of these ages to fight infections with their immune systems becoming weak. ....

A centenarian was among those who were administered the COVID-19 vaccine along with others aged 60 and above and those above 45 years old with co-morbidities in Telangana on Monday.
State Health Minister Eatala Rajender took the vaccine at a government hospital in his Assembly constituency of Huzurabad near Karimnagar.
Observing that the state has not seen a second wave or any major rise in cases so far, he said the vaccine would give protection to people and help in checking the spread of COVID-19. ....

HYDERABAD: On a day when the COVID-19 vaccine was rolled out for the general public amidst much hesitation and software glitches, a centenarian from Telangana put all concerns to rest and took the shot in Hyderabad.
Jaidev Chowdhry, 100, a resident of Hyderabad and ex-entrepreneur, took the first shot at Medicover Hospitals on Monday.
According to officials, he was visibly happy and said that he was waiting for the day to be vaccinated to enjoy a more socially active life. He also said a lot of misinformation was being spread unnecessarily about the vaccine and people shoud come forward to take it not just for their own benefit but for their family and society. ....
