With only one more matchup of the regular season left, the No. 22 Spartans faced off against the No. 17 Boilermakers in a 21-12 matchup.
In last weekend’s matchup, the Spartans walked away 1-1 with a 28-10 over the Indiana Hoosiers but a 27-10 loss to the No. 7 Nebraska Cornhuskers.
The Spartans were excited to be back home to face off against the Boilermakers.

Do you like bonus points? Then Iowa s dual meets against Purdue and Ohio State were right up your alley on Sunday. 15 of the 20 dual meet matches ended in bonus points. There were eight pins, four in each dual. There were also five technical falls and two major decisions. There was no shortage of points on the scoreboard on Sunday.
The good news is that Iowa was the one dishing out lopsided losses most of the time; they recorded six pins (two each by Jaydin Eierman and Tony Cassioppi, plus one apiece from Spencer Lee and Michael Kemerer) and three of the five technical falls were delivered by Iowa wrestlers (two by Austin DeSanto, who continued his torrid scoring streak this season). The duals did feature more Iowa losses than we ve been accustomed to seeing, but that had more to do with the composition of the lineup and more reserves getting called into action than usual (mainly for COVID purposes). Of Iowa s seven losses on Sunday, just two were suffered by regular starter ....

Iowa, despite being outside of the welcoming walls of Carver-Hawkeye Arena, had no problem downing two more Big Ten opponents on Sunday. Last week was supposed to be Iowa s first triangular meet of the season, but Michigan s postponement put the kibosh on that. But we didn t have to wait long for some triangular action we re getting it this weekend in West Lafayette, with Iowa taking on Purdue and Ohio State in back-to-back duals (Purdue and Ohio State will also wrestle each other in another dual today).
The big news out of Iowa City regarding these duals is that the Hawkeyes are going to be a bit shorthanded this weekend. Alex Marinelli remains out of action while he s in the COVID protocols and now he s been joined by Tom Brands, who tested positive for COVID-19 earlier this week. Brands has been coaching remotely and obviously will not be in West Lafayette matside for the matches today; Terry Brands, Ryan Morningstar, and Bobby Telford will handle the on-site coaching today.
