JACKSON, MI – A $50,000 contribution to a downtown development program hopes to aid officials’ efforts in Jackson’s revitalization.
The donation to the Jackson Anchor Initiative from the Consumers Energy Foundation, the Jackson-based utility company’s charitable arm, will help fund efforts to attract stores, residential units and more downtown, officials said.
“We have been amazed with the continued momentum in making downtown Jackson a better place to live, work, and play, even through the pandemic,” Anchor Initiative board member Terry Mierzwa said in a statement.
“We’re going to come out of this with several hundred new downtown residents, new office workers, new restaurants and retail outlets, and fun events that we will no longer take for granted. Consumers Energy Foundation’s support is the straw that stirs the drink.” ....
