(Seminoles.com) – Tallahassee native Connor Futrell of the Florida State Men’s Golf team was FSU’s lone winner in match play vs. Arizona on Wednesday at the Stephens Cup, defeating his opponent 2&1 at the Alotian Club in Roland, Ark. The win by Futrell over Jackson Norwich of Arizona moves his record to 3-0-1 in match play competition this season, going 2-0-1 at the Barbara Nicklaus Cup in FSU’s last tournament. Futrell got ahead by as many as three holes on the front nine vs. Norwich, then stayed steady on the back nine. “Conner really wants to leave his legacy at Florida State,” FSU Head Coach Trey Jones said. “Being very close last year to playing in the national championship, he is starting to figure out what is needed to be successful at our level.
