Running through the streets of their city once again. John set the scene for us in boston right now. Good afternoon, del, well, the weather here is typical of [ inaudible ] in the city. It has been raining for most of the morning. The sun is trying to shine at the same time, and encapsulates the mood of the city and the people of boston. They are trying to get over it. They are trying to put it all behind them, and they are looking forward so much to the 118th marathon coming up on them. What is happening here at the john Heinz Convention Center on boyle street a little bit further down the road from where the finish line is, the Convention Center is being filled with people from boston, many of them survivors of the bombing a year ago, many of them with prosthetics. They are surrounded by their families today. There is a lot of love from them and everybody in the city. And the guest of honor twofold. The governor deval patrick, and Vice President joe biden is in the city as well. Here

Two bombs exploding near the finish line killing three and injuring 260 others. Today the people of boston are standing boston strong. John what is the scene there today . But i would like to begin this report by a statement from the white house which has just come in from president obama talking about todays oneyear anniversary of the bombings. He says a year ago, tragedy struck the 117th Boston Marathon, four innocent people were stilled this week and four other were injured. We send our thoughts and prayers to those still struggling to recover. It was one year ago today that two bombs exploded near the finish line of the Boston Marathon, survivors First Responders and family members of the four People Killed that week gathered this afternoon to mark the solemn anniversary at the exact moment the bombs went off a flag was raised at the site of the attack. What so proudly we hailed at the twilights last gleaming whose broad stripes and bright stars. And john terrett joins us now from bostons fenway park in boston. And i think, tony, this is a day that the city of boston has been seeking, as a cathartic moment to try to begin the healing process proper. After the bombings of a year ago. A number of developments today in the crisis in ukraine. The countrys acting president announced that antiterrorist operation against pro russian activists that have seized buildings in several eastern cities. An up rising at a small airport, a fighter jet flew over head as ukraine took control of the facility. We have more from the scene. [ gunfire ] reporter firing warning shots at ukrainian troops send a message. In the background a woman shouts two young people have already been wounded but soldiers and special Police Forces hold their grounds. Outside of the airfield prorussian barricade the building and say they wont let the military leave. Casualties have been reported on both sides. The protesters are weary of where each others allegiances lie. Our goal is to defend our city so we can sleep well. To defend our city from uninvited guests.
