Bulldogs and Eagles Heading to State Duals

Lake Mills and West Hancock are both off to state duals. Lake Mills, a familiar face – West Hancock, a newcomer.
Lake Mills was a favorite coming into the wrestling season to return to Wells Fargo Arena. The Bulldogs returned a senior-dominated lineup led by returning state place winners, Jack Ramaker, Casey Hanson, and Elijah Wagner. Junior Brady Hanson also reached the traditional state tournament last season.
The Bulldogs – currently ranked fourth in Class 1A as a dual team – earned a first-round bye last night and were set to wrestle either Hudson or Central Springs. Central Springs beat Hudson setting up the regional championship matchup between the two Top of Iowa Conference teams. ....

Ramaker Joins Hanson and Wagner Winning for the 150th Time

The Lake Mills Bulldogs wrestling team moved to 25-0 last night in Estherville, and that wasn't even the most impressive thing that happened. For the third time this season, and the seventh in school history, a Bulldog wrestler reached 150 career wins.

Weekend roundup: Mason City girls fall just short against Cedar Falls


Going into Saturday s game between Mason City and No. 5 Cedar Falls, it would ve been easy to dismiss the Mohawks chances. Going up against the Tigers, ranked No. 5 in Class 5A, the winless Mohawks didn t seem to have much of a chance. 
But thanks to some big offensive performances, Mason City nearly pulled off one of the year s most stunning upsets. In the end Cedar Falls won, 71-69, but the Mohawks walked away with their heads held high. 
Junior Jada Williams scored 24 points on Saturday, with 10 rebounds. It was the second time in two days that Williams had double-digit points and rebounds, after she put up a triple double on Friday against Ames.  ....
