Schaumburg Youth Orchestra names new director for for top symphonic ensemble
Kevan Kosobayashi, named new Director of the Schaumburg Youth Symphony Orchestra.

The Schaumburg Youth Orchestra announces that area music teacher Kevan Kosobayashi has been named Director of the program s Symphony Orchestra. Kosobayashi returns to the program after serving as its Chamber Strings director from 2001 to 2008. As director of SYSO, he fills the position previously held by SYO founding director Joseph Malmquist, who retired last year.
Kevan Kosobayashi received his Bachelor of Music degree from Northwestern University, where he was the recipient of both the Elsie Ekstein Prize and George Patterson Owen Award and was selected for membership in Pi Kappa Lambda, the national honorary music fraternity. His Master of Arts degree is in music education from Teachers College-Columbia University in New York city. Kosobayashi is currently one ....

After being canceled by the pandemic in 2020, Schaumburg s Septemberfest over Labor Day weekend could be reinstated as a scaled-back event this year.

A lower-capacity crowd could roam Schaumburg s municipal grounds for a scaled-back version of the village s traditional Septemberfest this Labor Day weekend if village board members give the green light. Last year s festival was canceled due to the pandemic.

Schaumburg cancels Prairie Arts Festival

The Village of Schaumburg is announcing the cancellation of its popular Prairie Arts Festival due to ongoing state restrictions that continue to restrict large gatherings from taking place while in Phase 4 of Gov. Pritzker s Restore Illinois Plan.
Although we re making progress against the coronavirus with the implementation of the vaccine rollout, unfortunately, we re not yet able to host events of this size due to the state s continued safety restrictions that are in place, said village President Tom Dailly.

We remain hopeful that with more people getting vaccinations, we will once again be able to open the grounds and doors to events soon that are offered by the Al Larson Prairie Center for the Arts. ....
