This month marks the 80th anniversary of the end of the prohibition in the united states. For nearly eight years it was illegal to produce, sell or serve alcohol. The repeal took effect 10 days later on december 15th. And as this newsreel from the times tells us an entire industry that had been under ground for more than a decade was able to go legit again. With an eye on december 5th, work is being rushed at distilleries. Thousands are being called back to work in allied industries. At least 500,000 new jobs are predicted as a result of repeal.
