While outside his home in Buckley the other day, Jack Deconinck-Smith says he heard it at around 12:30 in the morning.
You could really hear the boom resonate, he said.
He says he has a clear view of Mt. Rainier from his house and says he began hearing massive pieces of snow start to slide.
We couldn t see the details but you could hear the noise for sure, said Deconinck-Smith.
It s the noise of snowpack, that reached record numbers on the mountain, melting away in just a few days thanks to those scorching temperatures at the end of June. ....
