At least the first two games of the best-of-seven series against the Milwaukee Bucks will be at Phoenix Suns Arena. The teams tip off in downtown Phoenix on Tuesday, July 6, and Thursday, July 8 before heading to Milwaukee for two games. And the Suns have once again reached out to local talent to provide the entertainment. Young MC, the hip-hop star who moved to Scottsdale in 2006, will entertain the crowd at Game 1 on Tuesday with a halftime-show performance that will almost certainly include the Top 10 smash for which he won Best Rap Performance at the Grammys, Bust a Move. ....

Rolling Stone TikTok Taps 100 Black Creators for an Incubator Program The creators, ranging from chefs to educators to musicians, start in the “TikTok for Black Creatives” program today By MARTIN BUREAU/AFP/Getty Images A month after announcing the creation of its incubator program for black creators on the app, TikTok has selected its first class of 100 creators, who will be getting support to help boost their careers through networking and more individualized focus from TikTok. TikTok selected 100 creators out of 5,000 applicants ranging from actors, chefs, educators and musicians. Over the next three months, the creators will be a part of town halls, forums and other educational events featuring prominent black executives and celebrities. Among the several musicians selected to take part in the program are Keshawn Midgette, Osagie Igbinosa and Grace DHaiti, who’ve all amassed sizable followings on the app while releasing their mu ....
There are separate male and female categories in both hip-hop and mainstream (the Walk of Fame’s term to describe R&B that is not hip-hop). But there’s just one combined male/female category for legacy artists, gospel and music & entertainment moguls. (The legacy artist award is designed for artists who began their careers prior to 1980. The other categories are for artists who have been active for at least 25 years.) There is no jazz category, nor are there designated categories for groups or duos. As a result, three groups or duos OutKast, Run-D.M.C. and Public Enemy are vying for the male hip-hop award. ....
First of its kind event will honor influential people across history. Published February 18th Written by BET Staff The Black American Music Association (BAM) and Georgia Entertainment Caucus (GEC) are slated to host a star-studded private reception to announce the nominees for the inaugural class of the Black Music & Entertainment Walk of Fame (WOF). The first of its kind event will honor some of the most influential Black artists and entertainers in American history and feature speeches and presentations of the nominees. Additionally, a special performance by Jac Ross will take place. The first class of nominees will officially be inducted in June during Black Music Month at a formal ceremony in Atlanta. They will be permanently installed in the historic downtown area on the sidewalks of Martin Luther King, Jr. Drive and Northside Drive. ....
