Marlon C. Lynch looks forward to position as MSU police chief and VP for public safety

On Feb. 2, MSU President Samuel L. Stanley Jr. announced he selected Marlon C. Lynch as the sixth chief of the Michigan State University Police Department (MSUPD). Lynch will also serve as vice president for public safety.
Lynch will start at MSU on April 1 after the Board of Trustees approves his position at its Feb. 12 meeting.
This position was initially announced as chief of police and director of the MSUPD. However, Stanley said in an email that Lynch s expertise with the university’s desire to advance inclusion, and more specifically, promote equity in law enforcement communication, engagement and practice caused him to give Lynch ....

In honor of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and the late Rep. MSU’s 2021 MLK Day celebration features packed itinerary of virtual events
Michigan State University’s 41st annual celebration in honor of Martin Luther King Jr. will take place beginning Jan. 17, 2021. The weeklong collection of events is open to the public. This year’s commemoration is taking place online due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The 2021 MLK celebration’s theme is “Good Trouble: Reclaiming Our Democracy, Demanding Social Justice.”
“This year, with the passing of the Honorable John Lewis, the term ‘Good Trouble,’ which he coined, has been included in the theme,” said Audrey Bentley, senior outreach coordinator with MSU’s Office for Inclusion and Intercultural Initiatives. “We continue to strive for more progress, change and inclusion in community, governance, justice and education. We hope this year’s celebration will inspire and renew learning and growth on our campus and beyond.” ....
