VISITORS to Bala Lake Railway can enjoy a free ride on one of its miniature locomotives at an upcoming event to be held this weekend. The Bala ReRailed event will take place between 10am and 4pm on Saturday (June 12) and Sunday (June 13). Guests can visit the Bala Town station site behind the Cinema for a special open day to promote the Railway s extension project and ride the first steam train to operate in Bala town since the closure of the standard gauge station in the 1960 s. There will be a 2’ gauge temporary track with one of the BLR’s resident locos in steam and offering rides in an open coach, as well as a 7.25” gauge miniature railway offering rides. ....
