A group of volunteers dedicated to sharing love as a mother would worked to clean up Tom Hanafan River s Edge Park in Council Bluffs.On a Sunday stroll down toward the Missouri River, a passerby might have run into the men and women dressed in brightly colored polo shirts. Over 30 of them, representing the International WeLoveU Foundation, wanted to clean up a green space countless people used to find an escape during the COVID-19 pandemic.The volunteers spanned out to different corners of the park, wearing gloves and carrying black plastic trash bags to collect glass, drink bottles and other litter.WeLoveU is a nongovernmental organization (NGO) associated with the United Nations.Part of what motivated them to spend two hours on Sunday at the park was a recently announced UN effort to focus on ecosystem restoration.
