Baby Ivakele Xolose, from the Western Cape, was reported missing on Monday and found dead on Tuesday. A Johannesburg woman, Yolandi Botes, also went missing at the end of last month when she took an Uber and her body was discovered in the Vaal River at the beginning of this month. Jacs Thomas, co-founder and director at Pink Ladies, which keeps a database of missing people, said missing cases across South Africa have exploded. ALSO READ: Community scammed.
“When we reported it to the police, they told us that the officers at the station were not able to assist us, because they were not trained to be divers,” said Siyabonga Ngwevela, father of one-year-old Ivakele Xolose.

He d been playing with friends outside his family s house when he disappeared.
A search ensued and the boy s father eventually discovered his body in a canal, 10 metres away from their home.
The police s Frederick van Wyk said: “We have opened an inquest case for further investigation and anyone with any information about this incident is advised to contact the investigating officer or Crime Stop on 08600 10111.”
Father finds body of missing one-year-old son in Langa water canal

Cape Town - Ivakele Xolose, who was reported missing on Monday, was found dead by his father this morning in a water canal in Langa about 10 meters away from his home.
The one-year-old, Xolose who weighed 10.2 kgs, from Joe Slovo, was reported missing while wearing a black mickey mouse t-shirt and a pair of black jeans shorts.
Police spokesperson FC Van Wyk said when he was reported as missing at the Bishop Lavis FCS, Langa police members and a group of community members immediately started looking for him.
