In a bulletin posted at 3 p.m., the weather bureau said Odette now packs maximum sustained winds of 195 km. per hour (kph) near the center and gustiness of up to 240 kph. Heavy to torrential rains over will continue over Caraga, Central Visayas, Misamis Oriental, Camiguin, Southern Leyte, and Negros Occidental. Moderate to heavy, with at times intense rains persist over Leyte, the southern portions of Eastern Samar and Samar, Zamboanga del Norte, Lanao del Sur, Davao Oriental, Davao de Oro, Davao del Norte, and the rest of Northern Mindanao. In its 11 p.m. tropical cyclone bulletin, the weather bureau said the center of the eye of Typhoon Odette was located in the vicinity of Carcar with maximum sustained winds of 175 kilometers per hour near the center, and gustiness of up to 240 kph. In its 5 p.m. weather bulletin, PAGASA said "Odette" was estimated at 485 kilometers east of Hinatuan, Surigao del Sur with maximum sustained winds of 130 km per hour near the center and gustiness of up to 160 kph. Gale to storm-force winds will be experienced in the areas where Tropical Cyclone Wind Signals (TCWS) No. 2 has been hoisted, it said.
