I think all of the above. crime and the economy mattered and pretending that crime was a republican invention did not work for democrats where they tried that. but democracy mattered, too, and so did roe. people thought roe maybe peaked too soon for democrats. i think it actually carried a lot of democrat turnout. this is a really important point because sexism i think played a role in how people were looking at the data. i ve been part of nair rupp pro-choice america for years. it wasn t a situation where people would be angry and go sit down and worry about the cost of eggs. this was a tectonic cultural shift. young voters, how they felt it as an affront to how they see themselves as human beings in a democracy or women again, it was taking away a right that many of us have had our whole lives, but also that it was a gateway to other rights potentially being taken away and ....
