Laura Ingraham shines a spotlight on everyday Americans and examines how their lives are affected by politics at the federal, state and local level. Census. Up until 1950, we did have it on the census. The census changes and we didnt ask that question. Tell us about the posture of this case and this police judge, jesse furman. Laura what is happening here is that these judges are, you know, taking these cases and imposing their own judicial philosophy and new standards that are not written into the law into these cases. You saw the exact same reasoning that judge furman used here, which is that wilbur ross, in charge of the census in his department, had made some remarks about the reasoning behind wanting to count citizens that raised an issue of animus. Well the United States Supreme Court recently ruled that this Animus Theory is bogus and one of the elements that shouldnt be applied. Clarence thomas has spoken out on nationwide injunctions. So basically, this is a
confusion and we h
smollett what he heard from his sources within the chicago police department. it is no longer like i m trying to help a friend. you are trying to affect an investigation. this is serious stuff. this isn t the last time this is going to go away. i think many changes will be made at cnn both in front of the camera and behind it because this cannot continue. particularly when you have lost nearly 80% of your audience since the beginning of the year. harris: that s cash and the big boss watches fox, headline. good to see you, thank you. we re talking about jussie smollett. he is back on the stand today and with that bombshell about cnn s anchor don lemon. he is facing questions from prosecutors after testifying in his own defense first yesterday accused of orchestrating that attack on himself and blaming it on racism and homophobia. matt finn is in the courtroom for all of this and he has come up to update us. matt.
i think going after the front-runner gets you that. and look, but biden is going to have to answer these the question through his performance as to whether he s up to this. this isn t the last time. and he s going to have to up his game or he s not going to get to where he wants to go. everybody i know when they watch the debate thinks, how will this person perform against president trump. that will be the ultimate one of the ultimate tests, obviously. and one of the things that s interesting about biden is he doesn t take the bait. so this has happened a couple of times. people have gone after him personally and he doesn t he doesn t return fire. he doesn t take the bait. and is that a good strategy? i think it works for him. i think biden works best when he s biden, flaws and all. you didn t see a moment from him where he said my time is up. that worked good for him. you saw him energized, engaged, especially in the 50 two hours. i think the real question still lives among
opportunities in front of you. and if there is anything i can do to help, you know, you got a friend in me and i appreciate how you conduct yourself. i appreciate your priorities. i don t give a darn about your politics, certainly not any more. i m here. i wish you well going forward. i know this isn t the last time i ll see you. we have a name yet for this little girl? not yet. i love you, brother. i appreciate our debates. you know what, you can disagree and debate fervently, but you don t have to hate each other. i think you and i have done that well together and i appreciate your support for me and your friends at cnn and your viewers. so thanks for having me on, letting me tell a little bit of my story. i m going to miss the congress, but, you know, i m going to take care of my family. got to feel for him. it s not about right and left, it s about reasonable and the reality for the big things in life. sometimes we get caught too much in the small things. we ll be thinking of t
he goes on to say that virginia lawmakers should remove confederate statues that still stand today. what do you think, david? . so, it was a strong op-ped. it was written almost like someone who was thinking about running for governor or senator, quite frankly. and i think he made a strong case against blackface, against racism, both personal and institutional, and also against monuments. what it underscored for me in addition to learning a little bit of history was that part of what we faced the last few days with the elected leaders in virginia is is even if personally they ve changed or say they ve changed or they ve apologized or moved on, it s when you have things like confederate statues that are at issue in virginia cities and towns, how can these elected leaders be seen as neutral brokers to resolve these issues, to lead people through resolving these issues, when they have this in their past? yeah. i wish i had more time. wes, i wanted to get you in. one thing i think we l
