Alistair gunn needed treatment for a chest infection. there are people coming in here with cuts on hands and stuff like that, they can go to doctors or go elsewhere, so that impacts the people who need it. this a&e is split in two. half the beds are taken up with patients waiting to be admitted to the main hospital, but there is no space, so patients have to wait. the longest is 20 hours waiting on an inpatient bed and a lot of the patients are being managed on the corridor because there is not, you know, we don t have the cubicles to put patients into. so for them, it s not a journey that we would like to give them and really, you know, isn t acceptable. but we ve got to work with what we ve got at the moment and, unfortunately, we re having to do it on a daily basis. ambulance staff bring patients in, others bring themselves. we brought her up to a&e yesterday just because she s got an infection in her finger and it s starting to track up her arm. ....
