The flag and what makes me kind of i don t know, it sticks in my craw, do you know any? it makes me really just upset, i remember the days, i remember being on the battlefield in afghanistan and iraq and i know what it looks like when soldiers have stepped on ieds and there s pieces of them scattered in every direction and soldiers have to actually walk that ground looking for little bits of bone and flesh and put them back together and put them into little boxes to send them home to their families. and this is a free country, people don t have to represent the flag if they don t want to come up but doesn t mean that they have the right to disregard millions of americans who have sacrificed and who do remember what that flag stands for. it doesn t just stand for the things these horrible things that people want to talk about all the time now and shove all of this down our throats and you know, it s not just left and right, this isn t a left-right ....
But now sinema and manchin have to permission, which is so important. do people with permission? do they have offerings to do something a little differently than what we were saying? with republican opposition we should get rid of the filibuster entirely. the republican party is not the opposition party anymore it s a cult that s bent on democracy so they can retain power. these are not normal times. the at democrats should use all the power they have now. where we may be headed is a mitch mcconnell changed the rules to allow supreme court justices to be confirmed with 50 votes. surely democracy and saving legislation, you could find a way to do a now i think manchin and sinema is to say, we did all we could, specifically manchin who put out a proposal that had voter i.d., to say, this isn t a left. now we have to move to change ....
These allegations came out. when i was down there, i was calling back to people in the senate and telling them this is not a campaign, this has a movement feel to it. so i give a lot of praise to the people that really poured their heart, energy and soul into this election. but i do want to say this isn t a left-right election. there are a lot of republicans that defected because they knew this wasn t about left or right, this was about right or wrong. that was something that was very affirming to me. there s got to be a level of decency in this country that i know is our nation, is america. and this was a choice between someone who is about bigotry, about hate, about mysogeny, that was violating the rule of law. his career is a stain on the ideals that we hold precious, and so many republicans rejected that, including my colleague, richard shelby, who has a profile of courage for him to come out days before the election as strongly as he did. so this is a moment that i feel this insti ....
