Paige Moorehead, 28, was the first female participant to cross the finish line in two hours and 45 minutes. Carl Perkins, the first men to cross the line, finished the 11km event in just over two hours. The event raises funds for the Sunshine Coasts special schools in Nambour, Currimundi and Palm View. Ms Moorehead, who is a teaching assistant at Nambour Special School, said she was over the moon to win the race. ....

After being cancelled last year, the annual 11km Island Charity Swim will return to Mudjimba in May and again raise vital funds for the Nambour, Currimundi and Palmview special schools. However, this year will welcome a new atmosphere as hundreds of participants dive into the inaugural Swim The Island Mudjimba. The shorter 3km swim will run alongside the charity swim, with upwards of 300 competitors in total diving in across the two events on May 8. ....
