JAMB to shift registration for UTME, exam by two weeks  -

In order to prevent a situation whereby over 600,000 prospective candidates would miss this year’s Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination, UTME, the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board, JAMB, is set to extend registration for the examination by two weeks, while the examination itself would be postponed by another two weeks, checks by Vanguard have revealed.
The paper gathered on Friday that the extension in registration and the shift in the commencement of the examination would be suggested to stakehoders by the Registrar, Prof. Isaq Oloyede, during a meeting scheduled for late Friday.

The registration for the UTME had earlier been scheduled to end on Saturday May 15, but with the look of things, it may now be extended to May 29, 2021. ....

JAMB Plans To Postpone 2021 UTME | African Examiner

(AFRICAN EXAMINER) – The registrar of the Joint Admissions and Matriculations Board, Prof. Is’aq Oloyede, has stated that the board will check to see the possibility of extending the registration period and change the date of the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination.
Oloyede made this known on Friday at a zoom meeting titled, ‘Briefing session for the committees on 2021 UTME’.
The UTME had been fixed to hold between June 5 and 19.
The registrar, however, disclosed that the Mock examination would begin on May 20 as earlier scheduled.
Oloyede said: “Presently, we have 1.2million candidates that have registered but we expect 1.9million.
600,000 candidates had made attempt to register but because of NIN they could not. We want to do an appraisal of all the issues to know if we are extending registration or not. ....

We opened rogue centres to catch exam cheats

In order to catch candidates who want to cheat in the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examinations, UTME, conducted by it, the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board, JAMB, also set up what it called rogue centres to catch those seeking centres where they could be assisted to cheat during the examination.
Disclosing this in Lagos on Wednesday while monitoring the ongoing registration for the 2021 UTME, the JAMB Registrar, Prof. Isaq Oloyede, also lamented the role of some parents who are seeking centres where their wards would be assisted to record high marks in the examination.
He, however, added that the Board had taken enough steps to prevent candidates from cheating, as it keeps improving its measures to conduct a credible examination on a daily basis. ....
