after the meeting of with the president but in your mind do you need a vote or will look framework and what will be in the reconciliation be enough for you? i think that was before the president came, and then after the president, all of, us including alexandria, we were meeting at the caucus. what we were saying is, ideally we re gonna have a vote it s gonna happen in the senate, but at the minimum, an ironclad agreement. that doesn t just mean a, framework that means that there is no no way someone in the senate can go back and somehow change things after there s an agreement. i think everyone is working towards, this i don t think anyone wants to go back to arizona or new mexico and, say, yeah it and deliver childcare because we couldn t agree to something because there wasn t enough trust. i think these are democratic failures, there are american values. and i think that is just a matter of time to work this out with a couple of senators and a handful of or so of folks in the
you know chairs the house progressive caucus, she was asked if anything had changed, she said no. yesterday she said she had some 60 or so colleagues, progressives, who are willing to vote no on this bipartisan infrastructure bill. if she s saying nothing has changed and the house speaker moves forward with this vote anyway, is she basically daring them to vote against it? we had two caucus meetings this week, very productive conversations. my expectation is today hopefully we ll have another caucus meeting to be briefed on the latest developments. and i do know that there have been intensifying conversations and discussions with the senate involving the white house and of course our house leadership. speaker pelosi is doing a tremendous job in navigating us forward. hopefully we ll in a place in the next few hours where it s clear that we have the type of ironclad agreement to move forward in a meaningful way with the build back better act that will allow for and facilitate
so the highway bill would extend that or the infrastructure bill would extend that. i will just say, though, that there s just so much things that remain undecided in this reconciliation package. pelosi has said she will not put a bill on the floor that would not pass the senate, so it has to have the spending level somewhere between 3.5, we assume between 1.5 or 2.8 or something in that range. also we don t know about taxes, we don t know about programs, we don t know most importantly okay. hold on, what joe manchin and kyrsten sinema want, that s the main thing. go ahead. if progressives are saying they want this ironclad agreement, all the details of the $3.5 trillion worked out before, on what scenario are they going to get that? so that s the question. i mean, that as you say is a fungible term because i don t know what they will be satisfied with. pelosi can come to them and say here is the broad outlines of what we re working on, buy into this and we have to get go
