Chris LaPierre once imagined a life as a newspaper journalist.
Back when he first set off down that path, it seemed like a much more achievable dream than earning a living brewing craft beer.
But life is a funny matter, and sometimes when one door shuts, the door to a bright, shiny new brewhouse swings wide open.
LaPierre, who lives in Center City, grew up in Medford, and graduated from Shawnee High School before heading off to Syracuse University.
“I actually was a newspaper major, but the closest I get to that is a blog post every now and then,’’ said LaPierre, senior brewer for the Iron Hill Brewery & Restaurant chain. “I hated math and science. I did the bare minimum I could to get by but could never apply it. When I got into brewing, I finally had reason to use it.’’
