Minister McConalogue announces commencement of Balancing Payments of €16.6 million of the Sheep Welfare Scheme
 
The Minister for Agriculture, Food and the Marine, Charlie McConalogue T.D., today announced the commencement of the 15% balancing payments to all eligible farmers under year 4 of the Sheep Welfare Scheme. The Scheme is co-funded by the European Union as part of Ireland’s Rural Development Programme, 2014-2020.
The rollout of the balancing payments brings the total paid under Year 4 of the Sheep Welfare Scheme to €16.6 million to some 18,300 farmers, providing a significant financial boost to the individual farmers, the sheep sector in general and the wider rural economy. ....

Sheep Welfare Scheme balancing payments issue

The 15% balancing payments to all eligible farmers under year four of the Sheep Welfare Scheme are to commence issuing this week.
The scheme is co-funded by the European Union as part of Ireland’s Rural Development Programme, 2014-2020.
The rollout of the balancing payments brings the total paid under year four of the Sheep Welfare Scheme to €16.6 million to some 18,300 farmers.
This, according to the Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine, provides a “significant financial boost to the individual farmers, the sheep sector in general and the wider rural economy”.
According to the department, the Sheep Welfare Scheme provides financial support to farmers for taking extra steps to improve the welfare of their flock. Farmers get €10 per breeding ewe for completing flock welfare measures. ....

€5 million fund aimed at artisan, micro and small food businesses
Funding will help artisan, micro and small food businesses to respond to challenges posed by Brexit and COVID-19
LEADER programme a key plank of ‘Our Rural Future’
Small food businesses are today (Tuesday, May 25th) being encouraged to apply for funding under the LEADER Food Initiative – a €5 million investment aimed at assisting businesses to deal with the challenges posed by Brexit and COVID-19.
The final call for applications was made by Minister for Rural and Community Development, Heather Humphreys, Minister for Agriculture, Food and the Marine, Charlie McConalogue and Minister of State for Land Use and Biodiversity, Pippa Hackett. ....
