Today, the United For Navid campaign has sent a follow up letter to the International Olympic
Committee with documented cases of athlete abuse and further breaches of the Olympic Charter.
These cases provide clear evidence that the Iran National Olympic Committee and Iranian Sport
continue to refuse their athletes the right to compete against Israeli athletes and continue to
threaten those who come forward.
Deepak Punia settles for silver at Asian Championships

Almaty: Deepak Punia (86kg) settled for silver on the final day of the Asian Wrestling Championships after losing 10-0 to Iranian Olympic champion Hassan Yazdanicharati on Sunday while Sanjeet (92kg) won bronze.
India thus end the Asian Championships with seven medals in the men’s freestyle event. Deepak lost his first-round bout inside the first period by technical superiority as he was hardly able to hold his defence against Yazdanicharati’s flurry of attacks.

Almaty : , April 18 (IANS) Deepak Punia (86kg) settled for silver on the final day of the Asian Wrestling Championships after losing 10-0 to Iranian Olympic champion Hassan Yazdanicharati on Sunday while Sanjeet (92kg) won bronze.

Sanjeet, meanwhile, almost blew away a comfortable lead against Rustam Shodiev of Uzbekistan. Sanjeet was leading 11-2 at one stage but Shodiev clawed his way back. The Indian managed to hold on to his lead until the end of the bout.

Iran’s suspension from international judo events for refusing to let its athletes fight Israeli opponents was overturned by the Court of Arbitration for Sport on Monday.
The case was prompted by former world champion Saeid Mollaei leaving the Iranian team in 2019, claiming he was ordered to lose matches and withdraw from competitions to avoid facing Israelis.
CAS said its judges hearing the Iranian judo federation’s appeal decided the International Judo Federation overstepped its authority with such a severe ban, which was imposed in October 2019. The case was sent back to an IJF disciplinary panel for review.
