Next, we speak with his grandson about dr. Johnsons role in the desegregation of tenants. Mr. Johnson this is where it all happened. Dr. Johnson set up a Junior Development program to train the latest kids, mostly africanamericans, in the sport of tennis. He would mentor them, work on strategy and tactics and have kids, and stay for the summer. Usually about a dozen kids per year and this is where the color line in the sport of tennis was hisen back in 1950 when first Junior Development Program Player played the u. S.
