RIPLEY Valley will test their depth early in Friday night s local derby against the Ipswich City Bulls.
With some injury concerns and player unavailability, head coach Nick Paterson was keen to see how his extended squad fares at Sutton Park in their next game.
Ripley Valley and the Bulls will clash in the third round Capital League 1 encounter having both lost their latest matches.
But while the Bulls were outclassed in their 6-2 defeat to Moggill on Saturday night, Paterson had mixed feelings about his team s 2-0 loss to Annerley.

Eagles making transition from losing close games to victors

ALWAYS reflecting on the game and looking for ways to improve, Kym Mansell was clearly disheartened with last season.
Even with the disruptive COVID challenges, he expected more from his Ipswich Eagles side.
The loyal clubman also questioned what he could have done better in the QFA Division 2 North competition where Eagles teams regularly make the playoffs.
It was very disappointing that we didn t make the finals, Mansell said.
If you have a look at the calibre of players we had in our team, and then the bar we set ourselves . . . we were probably the most underperformed team last year. ....

Ironic twist as Spirit coach moves on, to tackle former club

FORMER Western Spirit head coach Mario Malesevic has left the club in an improved position and appreciative of the support he received.
However, in an ironic twist, last year s men s senior team mentor will coach against Spirit in the 2021 Football Brisbane competition.
Wanting to coach in the Brisbane Premier League (BPL) this year, Malesevic accepted a pre-Christmas opportunity with the Centenary Stormers, expecting Spirit to remain in Capital League 1 (CL1).
However, Goodna-based Spirit were recently admitted into the 2021 BPL competition after finishing in the CL1 top six last season.
Malesevic has handed over the Spirit coaching reins to last year s assistant Reginald Yaqub. ....
