As many as 32 Romanian features to be shown at the 20th Transilvania IFF Întregalde by Radu Muntean The Transilvania International Film Festival (23 July–1 August, Cluj-Napoca) has always been a promoter of Romanian cinema, but for its 20 th edition, the organisers seem poised to show an exhaustive map of the local film industry: as many as 32 features in the 170-title selection hail from Romania. Twelve features will be competing for the Romanian Days awards, including the FIPRESCI Award. Perhaps the most eagerly awaited title of the selection is Radu Muntean’s Întregalde, which will be screened at Transilvania only weeks after its world premiere in the Cannes Directors’ Fortnight sidebar. The director tells Cineuropa that his initial intention was to shoot two of the filmâs three stories as short films, but the lockdown gave him time to reconsider the project as a feature consisting of three interconnected stories. âI wanted to prove that one can make movies outside Bucharest,â says the Cluj-Napoca-based helmer, adding that his screenplay has been designed from the very beginning to accommodate situations and character types specific to the Transylvanian tow ....
