Plans to open liquor investment sparked controversy in Indonesia REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) deleted a point in Presidential Regulation Number 10 of 2021 concerning the Investment Business Sector which regulates the opening of investment in the alcoholic liquor industry. This was conveyed by the president in a press statement at the Merdeka Palace, Tuesday (2/3) this afternoon. I decided that the Presidential Decree s attachment regarding the opening of new investment in the liquor industry containing alcohol will be revoked, Jokowi said in his statement.
The Papua Women s Empowerment and Child Protection Agency (BPPA) also reported that alcohol was the main trigger for cases of domestic violence (KDRT) in various regions in Papua.
