Raising a final glass to Donore's Michael Daly

For almost a generation, Michael and Anna Daly operated one of the most famed premises in the region - the one and only Daly s of Donore. Today, it continues to be a focal point for the village, and it has moved on considerably from its humble beginnings in the mid 1970s. Last week, the death of Mick Daly ended a chapter in its illustrious history, a previous era completed in 2006 with the death of Anna (Codd). They had met when Michael was in his early 20s and they treasured a lifetime together. Not far off 50 years ago, Michael and Anna were running a little shop and petrol pump in Donore and saw the opening for a pub ... so they built one!
