There was also another phenomenon at work. An increasing number of tourists, both an older age group that no longer was as interested in strenuous winter activity, and families with children who have environmental concerns and are geared toward a more natural, eco-tourism experience, visited Alpine resorts in record numbers during the summer.

A new report has found that the 2019-20 ski season was the worst for the global ski tourism industry in over 20 years due to the Covid-19 pandemic
La Clusaz ski station in Haute Savoie will open its doors to the public for the first time this season due to an unusually heavy snowfall.
Two thousand skiers will be allowed in for free over the course of Sunday and Monday (May 23 and 24) between 08:00 and 15:30.
