The Philippine Overseas Labor Office (POLO) in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia has been directed to go after the owner of a foreign recruitment firm who allegedly raped a Filipina overseas worker, the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) said Tuesday, July 6.

In his urgent memorandum to Labor Attaché Fidel Macauyag, DOLE Secretary Silvestre Bello III instructed the POLO to work with authorities there for immediate legal action on the case.
“I will do everything possible to help our OFW [overseas Filipino worker] fight back against her tormentors,” Bello said in a statement.
