ABOUT 1,000 music industry players stand to gain royalties amounting to RM500 each, which are expected to be paid out early next year, Kosmo! reported.
The initial payment to musicians and local singers involved RM11.7mil that was outstanding in 2018, according to Deputy Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs Minister Datuk Rosol Wahid.
“The royalties will be paid to members registered under the Recording Performers Malaysia Bhd and Performers’ Rights and Interest Society of Malaysia Bhd (Prism).
“For a start, we will pay RM500 to those eligible while the rest will be paid after some conditions are scrutinised by their respective licensing bodies, ” he said. ....
