midterm election year, the intensity question. how do people feel about things? among those who approve of the president, 60% said they feel strongly of joe biden s performance. 45% wonder who is coming out. that s a problem for democrats. 33% of democrats, only a third of democrats approve strongly. 75% of republicans disapprove strongly. so you see the intensity out there wh there. when only a third of your team is feeling strongly, you have real world outcomes in getting people to actually vote in an election year. let s look at this over time. if you want to look at how the president was back in march or april to where he is today. i ll walk you through there and follow it from left to right. the green is the economy. do you disapprove of the president s handling of the economy? watch the green line.

republicans in november? yeah. i think the intensity question is the right question to ask, joy. we have seen just in the last seven days or so some initial polling that has shown that republican enthusiasm is increasing. we have seen it in montana and south dakota. there are some good signs for republicans. i think the question is will that story remain. this story will not dominate the headlines going forward. but we will go on to other things i suspect as some point here. i think the question is are republican voters angry enough that there is a backlash and is that going to be a difference in the 27 swing seats for the house where both parties are running active and well funded campaigns which will determine the majority in congress. and then the 12 or 13 senate races that are competitive. that s the question. and will republican enthusiasm
still telts you something. if democrats are overperform in races like this by 15 points it becomes a nightmare for republicans in november. there are 147 gop-held house seats, less republican by the numbers, by the numbers, less republican than arizona eight. it s time to start rethinking how many of those are safe in november. after last night it s election, they are clearly watching these warning signs. everybody is well aware as a republican that it is going to be a very challenging political environment in november. i m concerned about, you know, republicans that are above me and haven t experienced what it s like to do a full complain, to have a tough race. the intensity question and making sure that the republicans also get out the vote is going to be on the forefront of our minds. there is no question the democratic base is more energized than it has been. no question everybody has a tough midterm. it s going to be a heck of a
