Tax breaks, or credits, are opportunities that begin at the state level. They are made available to businesses or developments that meet specific parameters. And, as a whole, they are designed to encourage growth in areas where growth might not otherwise be possible.

HOLLAND Local residents in Michigan s vaccination tier 1B have a new option for access.
Meijer locations on the north and south sides of Holland have started administering vaccines to those registered on their waitlist. Right now, residents 65 and older are eligible and remain the primary focus of Meijer clinics.
The northside Meijer is at 3320 W. Shore Drive, while the southside Meijer can be found at 746 E. 16th St. For either location, interested parties can text COVID to 75049 or visit clinic.meijer.com to sign up. Registrations can also be made by calling the pharmacy. ....

Macatawa Marketplace returning to Holland Town Center in 2021
HOLLAND TWP. A popular marketplace will return to Holland Town Center in the coming months.
Macatawa Marketplace, also known as The Market at Holland Town Center, launched in July 2020 with a couple dozen vendors and a single food truck.
In the six months that followed, the monthly event grew to over 70 vendors with live music, pumpkins and several hundred customers.
The market began a three-month hiatus in January, but will return Saturday, April 10, and continue the second Saturday of each month from there.
It s probably going to look the same as last year, said organizer Ruth Doane. But we re expecting more vendors. We ve made changes to give them more opportunities and we re planning cool events to run alongside the market. ....

Fate of Marlena's Bistro in Holland remains unknown

MDARD suspended the food license of Marlena s on Thursday, Jan. 21. According to ACHD Environmental Health Supervisor Randy Rapp, he and another county representative attempted to deliver the suspension order to Pavlos-Hackney, who refused it.
ACHD sent Marlena’s a warning letter in early December, ordering the restaurant to comply with Michigan Department of Health and Human Services regulations. Later that month, a cease-and-desist letter was issued. A second cease-and-desist letter was sent by MDARD on Dec. 31.
Pavlos-Hackney, who represented herself, issued a myriad of overruled objections during the hearing, including accusing the judge of assisting the prosecution. She also called the CDC a “for-profit organization.” ....
