The usually uneventful counting of Electoral College votes devolved into a bloody and chaotic scene on Capitol Hill on Wednesday afternoon as pro-Trump protesters broke into the hallways and chambers of Congress.
Capitol Police officers evacuated lawmakers, reporters, and congressional staffers as the violent protesters disrupted the vote tally. Vice President Mike Pence was swiftly whisked away.
