Coast for the next 24 hours. here is the key time on thursday. as it begins to go northward, when is it going to make that turn? is it going to go into charleston or will it make the turn, missing it? the same thing goes for myrtle beach. or it may parallel or rake the coast from wilmington, atlantic beach, morehead city, all the way through the pimlico sounds. that s a possibility. 105-mile-per-hour winds to 90-mile-per-hour winds is nothing to sneeze at. and again, it will cause a lot of issues. as far as impacts go in florida, we re still concerned with the high tide, especially tomorrow afternoon. areas around jacksonville, duval county and st. john s river. as we head into georgia, same thing. near the brunswick area, the inlet area, some storm surge problems. not really concerned too much with the amount of rain and wind. but once we get to the carolinas, if we get to the eye, what s left of it, the center of the storm over land, that s when quo start to have problems with the wi
Night hours into early morning hours here. yes, heavy rain. they re still talking about that 7-inch rainfall along the east coast of florida. yes, that tidal surge. it s the combination of the rain and surge that can be so devastating. not just for the coastline here. we re talking about inlet area. every inlet in florida florida has all these natural inland waterways that pull off the coastline. as this storm pulls along and possibly bounces along the florida coastline, it s not only going to have devastating and dangerous and destructive wind impacts, it s not only going to shred buildings along the coastline with powerful winds of about 140 miles an hour, it s going to shove this water, possibly 6 feet. i m standing at dry mark, high tide. we re talking with water right here with waves on top of me moving onto the shoreline and pushing into inland waterways. that means all of these areas will be flooding. if you get additional rainfall here, if we re talking about 4 to 7 inches of
Although the loss in terms of property is catastrophic, on the human side the loss was very minimal. not to diminish the loss of one life that we had, but there has been no real serious injury to our residents. we did have one fatality. and so on the human side, i think we came through this as best as we could hope. certainly we would like to have preserved all life, but we did unfortunately lose one. but again, on the property side, catastrophic damage. on the human side, very minimal, so i ll very thankful for that. seeing things very important but the actions of the people of atlantic city restoring power more important. what is the timeline, sir, that you think that people will get power? as we speak, crews are out about atlantic city, mostly in the inlet area and working their way downtown. i m hopeful that by tomorrow at this time we should have most of the energy power sources back on and the energy could be restored
