Women In Film: IWIF Continues to Lead Call for Change in Nollywood


As the Nigerian movie industry, through private ingenuity and creativity, continues to expand and give room to creative expression, the Inkblot Women In Film (IWIF) initiative has bemoaned the lack of structure and access to information.
The IWIF is targeted at studying the various issues that currently affect Nigeria’s film industry. IWIF has been focused on hosting intimate forums where industry practitioners, academics, financiers and stakeholders across the value chain come together to discuss the challenges facing Nollywood and also find viable solutions to these issues.
The conversations, which started since January 2021 have been on for months now, and the May cohort was again at the forefront of efforts to keep the conversation going. After three consecutive meetings, the Inkblot Women In Film (IWIF) held its fourth edition, hosting both new and recurring attendees on May 6, 2021 in Lagos State.
The intimately designed event was graced by Actor, Kehinde Bankole; Actor, Producer & Host, Eku Edewor;  Lawyer, Bukki Olabiyi; Producer, Abimbola Craig, Post Producer, Patience Lawal; Producer, Matilda Ogunleye; Production Designer, Jennifer Anti; Managing Partner, GLG Communications, Omawumi Ogbe; with Zulumoke Oyibio- co-founder, Inkblot Productions  &  Convener IWIF.
At the event, IWIF did not fail to further enumerate issues faced by cast and crew members in Nollywood. The safe space allowed women in the Nigerian Film industry to express their deepest concerns and challenges along with suggested solutions to be implemented. ....

The co-founder of Inkblot Productions, Zulumoke Oyibo gave an insight as to the need for women to be recognized and credited for their works at the second edition of the Inkblot Women In Film (IWIF) Initiative.
The second edition which held on the 3rd of March had the appearance of prominent women in the film industry. The co-founder of Inkblot Productions, Zulumoke Oyibo, has stated that women in the entertainment industry are not given enough credit for their work despite the challenges they face.
Oyibo stressed that there is a need for women to be recognized and credited for their works at the second edition of the Inkblot Women In Film Initiative.
She said, “Women in our industry today face challenges just for being women and are not given enough accolades for their work. We need to be seen more and hyped as women in the industry.”
Moreso, the objective of the IWIF is to tackle social, ethical and professional issues surrounding women in the film industry while creating a working environment that is safe and free. ....
