A bill that would require minors to clear an additional hurdle to get an abortion is on its way to Gov. Eric Holcomb s desk for consideration.
Under House Bill 1577, parents would have to get their signatures notarized after signing permission slips for their minor children to receive abortions. That means finding a notary public, opponents argue, to sign off on what s an intensely personal procedure.

Sen. Todd Young is attempting to position himself as someone willing to work with any administration for the good of Hoosiers, in the midst of an inner-party fight.
Meanwhile, Young had some choice words about Republican Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene on a press call Tuesday.
He also discussed his thoughts on the future of the party. 
There is a question about whether our party is going to be a party that is grounded in resentment and anxiety and fear, Young said.  Or if instead we re going to be an aspirational party. ....

For the first time since civil unrest erupted in Indianapolis and elsewhere across the country in response to police killings of Black Americans, the Indiana legislature is considering measures that would impact policing in the state. 
The deaths of George Floyd in Minneapolis, along with Dreasjon Reed and McHale Rose in Indianapolis, all at the hands of police, resulted in demands to reform policing  everything from banning chokeholds to defunding police departments. 
The four officers involved in Floyd s death face criminal charges. Earlier this month, the Marion County Prosecutor declined to file charges in Rose s death. And in Reed s case, a grand jury declined to indict the officer who fatally shot him. ....
