BLOOMBERG Bloomberg Markets July 13, 2024

Deb. I want to talk very briefly about two or three things. First, the issue of testing and how that has changed the complexion of the approach we are going to be able to take. Testing was an issue, many questions of testing in this room for number of times. Now that we literally have hundreds and hundreds of thousands of testing out there, there are a few things we could do with that. One of the things is when we make policy of what we are going to be doing with the rest of the country, particularly those areas that are not hotspots, we need to know what the infection is there. We need to put a light on those dark spots that we dont know. We have to act policy wise on data. We are going to be getting more data, a lot more data. The other thing is the areas of the country that are not hotspots, that are not going through the terrible ordeal that new york and california and Washington State are going through, they still have a wi ....

CSPAN3 Lectures In History Women Farm Work In The 20th Century July 13, 2024

Next on lectures in history, Iowa State University professor carmen bain teaches a class on womens work on family farms during the 20th century. She argues societal expectations for what roles were appropriate for men and women did not reflect the realities of shared farm labor. We are going to do is take a historical view of womens role in u. S. Agriculture. The title for the lecture today on invisible woman comes from a 1983 book, so ancient in your mind, but a book that is over 30 years old by caroline sacks. Carolyn sachsbook was groundbreaking. She was one of the first to examine the contributions of women to u. S. Agriculture, and it was this book that helped launch sociologists and other social scientists and rural historians and so forth, to look at the contributions of women who had largely been invisible up to this time. This is a nod to that groundbreaking book. Why study women in in agriculture . What i have bee ....

CSPAN2 U.S. Senate Re-air K Sens. Coons Cortez Masto On Coronavirus July 13, 2024

Hours ago today and recorded first thing this morning a video to share on social media with folks back home who have been eagerly asking what is up and whats happening and what is next. My message was simple, after days of this agreement and of tussling and fighting we have a deal and i am ready to vote. Lets move forward. Twelve hours later i stand in a largely empty chamber with an odd sense of foreboding as i have all day and had many of my colleagues wondering what is taking so long and what is the delay and what are the remaining issues . I am hopeful, prayerfully that we will resolve what is left to move to the chamber and take up the tests, voted out, send it to the house and senate to the president and send to chilean dollars in support to our nation. Let me tell you, as i have waited today and yesterday, as i have taken phone calls from folks from delaware for whatever reason they all say when will the senate act . We have faced a challenge over our last couple of days between ....

This is a nod to that groundbreaking book. Why study women in egger culture in agriculture . What i have been arguing and what other scholars are arguing is that why we want to study women in agriculture specifically, and not just talk about agriculture and gene roles, is that women have always played a really Critical Role in feeding us, in clothing us, in sustaining Rural Communities where there are farm families, increasingly helping fuel our society, and this is everywhere, not just the u. S. When we talked about agriculture, womens critical contribution was largely invisi ....
