COVID-19 outbreaks declared at two Sarnia senior living homes


 
LONDON, ONT.
Lambton Public Health is dealing with a pair of COVID-19 outbreaks at a long-term care home and a retirement home in Sarnia.
A staff member tested positive at Lanndmark Village Retirement Home and at Trillium Villa Long Term Care Community.
Outbreaks are declared when one or more residents or employees test positive for the virus.
“The individuals who tested positive have been notified of their results,” says Jennifer Beaubien, Family Health Supervisor for Lambton Public Health.
“LPH is continuing to conduct case and contact management as part of the investigation.”
Testing of all residents and staff continues. ....

COVID-19 outbreaks were declared Friday at a long-term care facility and a retirement home, both in Sarnia.
Lambton public health said it received lab-confirmed positive test results for one employee at Trillium Villa Long-Term Care Community and one employee at Landmark Village Retirement Home.

Point Edward, Wyoming and Forest have been selected to host the first fixed-site COVID-19 vaccination clinics when the time comes, the local Immunization Task Force says.
Lambton Public Health is also working with Sarnia officials to pilot a drive-up option for people with mobility issues.
The sites won’t become operational until more vaccines become available and will follow Ontario government guidelines for eligibility and priority groups, the task force said.
The clinics will operate out of the Point Edward Arena, the Wyoming Fairgrounds, and Kimball Hall in Forest. ....

MLHU reports 38 new COVID-19 cases, first death this month


 
MIDDLESEX CENTRE, ONT.
The Middlesex-London Health Unit (MLHU) is reporting 38 new cases and one new death on Wednesday.
The cases mark a jump from Monday and Tuesday s counts, which combined totalled 33 cases.
The London region has now seen a total of 5,760 cases, with 3,831 resolved and 176 deaths, leaving 1,754 active cases.
The death, a man in his 80s associated with a long-term care home, marks the first death reported this month. The last deaths were reported Jan. 29.
The Thames Valley District School Board reported one new case late Tuesday at Kensal Park French Immersion Public School
The health unit, which resumed reporting school cases Wednesday after implementing new case and contact management software, also reported that a case reported Jan. 22 has been reclassified as a school case. ....
