The I-71/75 interstate bridge is a major north-south trade corridor with over a billion dollars worth of freight crossing it daily. There s a $2.6 billion plan to build a companion bridge to help carry that load, but it lacks funding. Local and state officials are hoping the project could get funding under President Biden s proposed American Jobs Plan. That proposal would include $115 billion for roads and the 10 most economically significant bridges. Mark Policinski heads the Ohio, Kentucky, Indiana Regional Council of Governments. He told WVXU shortly after the president s plan was released that if the Brent Spence Bridge is not on that list, then it s a bad list. It s as simple as that. ....
