Bulldozer crashes smuggled liquor worth INR 5839505 in Assam

Our Correspondent Diphu, Aug. 9 (EMN): The Excise Department under Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC) has for the first time destroyed seized smuggled liquors from Meghalaya and Arunachal Pradesh with an approximate value of INR 58,39,505 at Khatkhati on Tuesday. The seized liquors were destroyed with a bulldozer by Chief Executive Member (CEM), KAAC, Tuliram Ronghang in the presence of DC Karbi Anglong, Dibakar Nath and SP Pushpraj Singh. The CEM told the media persons that the liquor coming from Meghalaya and Arunachal Pradesh without giving tax to Assam government and without challans are seized by the Excise department from various places. He said the seized 10,124 litres of Indian Made Foreign Liquors (IMFL) and 20,294 litres of beer were destroyed with an approximate value of INR 58, 39,505. Ronghang said, ‘our Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has taken strong initiative to stop the inflow of illegal supply of drugs and other illegal activities in Assam.’ He said busin ....
