SANEF inquiry provides ethical journalism recommendations

All panellists wish to state that they have
learnt in the course of this Inquiry that the current system of self- or
co-regulation of the print and online media and by the broadcasting industry appears
to be working well and to the benefit of the South African democracy.

A few months ago, China temporarily withdrew its ambassador to Pretoria after waiting for more than a year for South Africa to appoint an emissary to Beijing. It appears that the Chinese would only accept Siyabonga Cwele, a former South African intelligence minister, minister of state security and minister of telecommunications and postal services. South African authorities are believed to have refused to issue Cwele a security clearance, preventing his appointment over Cwele’s apparent scrapping of a probe into the controversial Gupta family, whose ties to former President Jacob Zuma played a major role in bringing down Zuma’s government. ....

Chinese and African officials and experts lauded achievements in China-Africa cooperation and called for closer ties between China and Africa at a webinar to mark the 20th anniversary of the establishment of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC) on October 28.
With the theme of 20 Years of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation: Prospects and Perspectives, the webinar was hosted by BEIJING REVIEW, a media outlet under China International Publishing Group (CIPG).
