The University of Cambridge s Selwyn College has appointed Guyanese-American Professor Gaiutra Bahadur as the first-ever Ramesh and Leela Narain Visiting Bye-Fellow in Indentureship Studies, allowing her to conduct research on the lives of Indian women indentured labourers to colonial plantations in the 19th century. The Indentureship Studies programme is a collaboration with the Ameena Gafoor Institute, and enables a scholar to spend eight weeks at the university to conduct research. ....
