UPDATE: Deep Creek fire jumps Highway 12, threatening structures David Murray, Great Falls Tribune © U.S. Forest Service The Deep Creek Fire burning the Big Belt Mountains east of Townsend has now jumped U.S. Highway 12. The Broadwater County Sheriff s Office has issued a per-evacuation order for the Grassy Mountain sub-division. Update: At 4:00 p.m.,Tuesday the U.S. Forest Service announced that the Deep Creek Fire had jumped U.S. Highway 12 and is now threatening several structures. Dry, hot and gusty conditions have allowed the Deep Creek Fire to cross south of Highway 12, states the Forest Service news release.  Grassy Mountain Subdivision is under pre-evacuation.  Highway 12 is closed east of Townsend. Air attack is on-scene.
