What is left of hurricane nate drenching parts of the northeast today after making a second landfall near biloxi, mississippi yesterday morning. images to show you in our slide show. forecasters say nate came ashore as a category one storm and knocked out electricity to 100,000 people right away. officials say power crews have already fixed and restored most of it. here you can see workers in biloxi clearing the way downed trees yesterday. here officials in mississippi, alabama and louisiana and florida for that matter say there s no reports of major damage. you can see how hurricane force winds toppled a tree on this man s home in biloxi. and this, some pumpkins nearby at a farm in mississippi, south and west of gulfport. pumpkins all over the road there. this is flood waters surrounding a complex in pensacola beach in florida. this is widespread. here s what it looks like right ....

Significant developments in the gulf this morning as we reach day 75 in the oil spill disaster. the newly appointed bp executive says bp could plug the gushing well by the end of july. in an interview with the houston chronicle, bob dudley says if weather conditions permit, it could be completed sooner than expected. and we re learning that two containment devices capturing oil from the gushing well have not been collecting as much as they could since being put into place. there s nothing wrong with the devices and recovery totals are affected by several factors. environmentalists are calling foul on the judge who overturned the banning on drilling in the gulf. and beaches along the gulf coast are usually crowded with tourists during the fourth of july weekend, but many of those favorite independence day hot spots are looking a bit more like ghost towns. michelle franzen is live for us in pensacola beach, florida, with the question how are things ....
