Animal models can only take you so far. No matter how much we try to humanize them by introducing specific receptors, they fall short of replicating human disease and development. And that is where organoids can be a game changer, particularly when used in conjunction with animal models. Recent advances in human lung organoid development are accelerating the search for new therapeutics to treat respiratory diseases such as COVID-19, but also enabling more physiologically relevant study of lung development and disease following premature birth. ....
