It gets back to a central core that i do believe every american believes it. and does it matter whether impeachment polls well? there s been a lot of talk in the media whether about whether or not it polls well and it will hurt democrats in the election. does that matter in the end? no. i didn t run for office to impeach the president. none of my colleagues did either. i would much rather be working on we ve done a lot as democrats over the course of the past year. but fighting for prescription drugs, which we just did, but structuring an economy to make sure we put american families tes centat the center of it. those are issues that we ve addressed as best we can in the time we ve had. but sometimes you have to do things that you just have to do. and if the president of the united states is going to akboous babuse is his office, but our country ....
Is it going to be a spirit of election, is it going to be tight? absolutely. martha: it is interesting that the picture that is being painted here is exactly what you say, very tight. when you look at the impeachment polls, pretty tight there. when you look at these polls in the swing states, it also looks very close which is obviously going to make it very interesting from our perspective and you know, hard worker you guys in the republican candidates, the party on their side as well. i want to ask you a little bit about elizabeth warren who is one of the stronger candidates and has put out her medicare plan, medicare for all plan which today is called a fantasy plan. and goes through the burden as they put it, that it would present companies. and it argues corporations would be forced to probably shrink their ranks, the senate ranks in order to pay for the coverage that would be put the amount of coverage he expects them to pay. ....
Collusion. it s just another witch hunt. they are discrediting the investigators, the democrats in this case, like they discredited mueller and discrediting the witnesses similar to the way they did in the mueller investigation. that s really this white house playbook that we re going to continue to see. to the point i think anna and ned were making in terms of the presidential support, the president would always make more support for his republican allies, more storming of the hearing committee last week, that was something the president was really gleeful to see. but there is some reassurance in the white house that calms some of their nerves some, and that s the fact that in all of these impeachment polls, despite seeing the trend move in favor of impeachment and certainly in favor of an impeachment inquiry, republican support is holding pretty steady. you see it dropping off a bit among the margins, but it s holding steady. to them that speaks to not what s going to happen in 2020 ....
Just the house democrats, we are already there for that, but potentially even at least some senate republicans where they might feel like they need to start taking this more seriously asking harder questions, perhaps even voting to remove. because we are seeing the impeachment polls. the public has, you know, surged in that direction time and time again pushing towards at least the impeachment inquiry. now a majority of americans want that according to certain polls. and others at least, there is a percentage of people who think he should be removed from office. i think that even if the president were to be survived, think how politically damaging it would be if a number of republican senators broke with him. even if he survived the vote. the but if he was just badly damaged, that s not how you want to go into re-election. already break right now are these current and former officials. they try to set up this blockade. they say you have a cascade of chaos, pick your ilit relation her ....
People who dislike trump have in to hold his antagonists in higher regard, whether you re talking about congress, talking about the media, even talking about the democrats to some extent. and that s what we see with these impeachment polls as well. they are basically moving toward the gravitational pull of trump s approval rating. at this point, pretty much everyone who doesn t like trump has come around to favor impeachment. but we haven t seen this impeachment probe start to drive trump s approval rating down. that still remains steady around 40%. so i think when we ll really know if this impeachment is doing political damage to the president is if his approval rating starts to drop rather than just everybody who doesn t like him supports impeachment and it kind of stays there. among independents it s been trending towards support. that key in the election. elie, you are a lawyer. you teach the law. impeachment process is not entirely a legal process but it s sort of a political le ....
