Imamia Jirga issues schedule for programmes National April 13, 2021 PESHAWAR: The Muharram Committee and Imamia Jirga in a meeting on Monday announced the schedule for various programmes, including mourning meetings and processions during the holy month of Ramazan. Representatives of important national organisations, Ulema, zakireen, organisers of processions, administrators of imambargahs and others attended the meeting held at Kocha Risaldar’s Jamia Mosque. Speaking on the occasion, Muharram Committee secretary Akhunzada Muzaffar Ali said that all programmes would be held as per the schedule during Ramazan like the previous year. He said that standard operating procedures set by the government would be implemented in letter and spirit during mourning meetings and processions to prevent the spread of the fatal viral infection of Covid-19 pandemic. ....
Retired Brig Sartaj Qizilbash named Imamia Jirga GS Peshawar March 17, 2021 PESHAWAR: Retired Brigadier Sartaj Qaizilbash has been named the general secretary of the Imamia Jirga (the council of elders) Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The decision was taken at a meeting of the Jirga arranged in the Jamia Masjid Koocha Risaldar. The ulema and councillors of the Jirga from various districts of KP attended the meeting. The participants offered fateha for the departed soul of the founder and general secretary of the Imamia Jirga, late Sardar Sajjad Hussain Zahid, and for other deceased members of the Milat-e-Jafferia. They recalled that the jirga, headed by late Syed Fazal Ali Shah and late Sardar Sajjad Hussain Zahid and their companions played a great role in restoring sectarian peace in Peshawar after it was disturbed in 1992. Protests continue to condemn coalminers killing Peshawar January 9, 2021 PESHAWAR: More protests were staged in city on Friday to express anger and anguish at the recent killing of coalminers in Balochistan. The members of the Imamia Jirga gathered at the Peshawar Press Club along with women and children on the second consecutive day to register the protest at the killing of 11 coalminers in the Machh town of Balochistan. They also staged a sit-in on the Sher Shah Suri Road outside Peshawar Press Club that affected the free flow of the traffic. The protesters were carrying banners and placards to condemn the slaying of the innocent coalminers from the Hazara community. ....
National January 8, 2021 PESHAWAR: Imamia Jirga and Moharram Committee staged a sit-in and blocked the main road for traffic outside Peshawar Press Club on Thursday to protest the killing of 11 coalminers in the Machh area of Balochistan province. Led by the jirga’s coordination secretary Akhundzada Muzaffar Ali and others, the protesters were carrying banners and placards to condemn the killing of 11 innocent coalminers from the Hazara community. Terming it one of the worst brutalities in the country’s history, the speakers said such killing was proof that the government had failed to protect citizens.
